Namings
Naming Ceremonies Naming ceremonies are celebrations of the unique nature of each child and are an opportunity for family and friends to welcome that child into ‘their community’.
In doing so, they express their love and on-going support for both child and parents. With the main focus on the child, the celebrant can create a ceremony which encourages participation of those in the child’s family circle – parents, grandparents, mentors, and friends.
This ceremony, which you design together, can speak about your love and hopes for the child, reflect your family values and be a happy, personal celebratory occasion. While naming ceremonies are most often for a child, anyone can have a naming ceremony! If you have changed your name, either recently or some time ago without celebration, or wish to adopt the surname of a life-partner, a Monash Celebrant can help you celebrate that important change.
